SWB GQ Patrol info please
Submitted: Tuesday, Jun 04, 2002 at 00:00

Greetings, I am looking at buying a second 4WD, and am after any info regarding the SWB GQ Patrol. Most importantly, did they come in a diesel, and if so what motor? How hard are the diesels to get, and what sort of price range do they run to? Any particular pitfalls regarding this kind of vehicle? Regards, Bill Church

replied: SWB GQ came with either a 4.2lt Petrol or 4.2lt deisel engine. If you are looking you may as well look at the Ford Maverick as it is a badged GQ Patrol. For between $10 - $15K you should pick up a decent petrol and add a few more thousand for a good deisel.
Remember you get what you pay for. The more
accessories
the greater the chance it has been through the rough and tough. A GQ SWB with fewer assessoies may be a better vehicle as it may not have been through the wars.
The Patrol is a great 4x4's that are near unstoppable with a llittle bit of work. Note 4.2lt petrol averages around 22lt per hundred and deisel around 13lt per hundred.
Do the sums.
cheers

replied: Have a look on the Yahoo Nissan Group Site. There is a vehicle as described going as part of a deceased estate. Petrol Version.
Also a bit of a wrap on the vehicle from Ari, who is the owner of the Camper Trailer Site on Yahoo. Read same. It would appear that anything above 11k will get it. Has many extras. Check it out.

replied: Hi Bill.
Ihave a 1990 SWB diesel and I have had no touble with it. I use it off road and it performs well. diesels are a little hard to find but not impossible.
You should pick one up between 10,000&15,000 dollars.Mine is 4.2 and I dont think they made a GQ 3 litre.
Regards Larry.
