LC100 T/D Rear Bar
Submitted: Monday, May 03, 2004 at 08:18

Had a quick
search
for posts on the rear bar of the LC100. Could find what I was looking for.
I have seen comments elsewhere that the LC100 rear bumper is pretty flimsy and prone to damage. We do some reasonably serious off road stuff (The front and rear air lockers on the new cruiser are testimony to what we are expecting to get up to).
Does anyone have any advice regarding replacing the rear bumper with something stronger.

There is a guy on the www.lcool.org 100 series list selling alot of 100 series equipment from his 100 which he is also selling at the moment, might be worth getting on there, and / or checking the for sale area on there as well.

not sure which state you are in but have replaced my rear bar with a "strongarm" with twin wheel carriers. replacement bar and 2 arms for wheel carriers supplied and fitted was $2150. can definitely fit upto 285/75/16
tyres
steel/alloy and can get attatchment for both wheels to have jerry can if u like. maybe able to fit taller
tyres
but with above there is just enough clearance for 2
tyres
on back.
also has recovery points and inserts to use high lift jack as standard
very similar to kaymarbut over $1000 cheaper.
i am pretty impressed with it-apparently only weighs 65kg which is not that much more than standard bar-the plastic part of oe bar weighs nothing but the separate steel part of oe is quite heavy.
only thing to look at is the part covering rear 1/4 panel on sides- is reasonable but maybe stronger on kaymar-but would take substantial hit without bending from sliding off tracks or dropping into deep ruts and hitting sides. im certainly happy with it apart from cost
had mine fitted at ALL TERRAIN 4wd sth rd oakleigh/moorabbin vic
available for ifs and solid axle
hope this helps

I'm in Vic - Could find any info on google for the "Strong Arm" bar you mention - sounds promising. Do you have any more info on where to get them?

Still pretty expensive - I'm keen to hear form forumites as to how vulnerable the OEM Bumper is.
Thanks
