Wagon Tent

Anyone have knowledge of Southern Cross 'Ultimate Deluxe Wagon' tent or similar that covers the back end of wagon (landcruiser)?
I have read many other previous posts on the pros and cons (pros mainly) of Southern Cross tents, just wondering if any have such a wagon tent and suitability for mainly beach camping and fishing trips for a couple. Also wondering about weatherproofing around rear door area of wagon and ease of attaching/removing for day trips away from camp. Regards

Macca ... I'd just encourage you to think why you'd want to attach your tent to the wagon. Why not have a free standing tent with annex/verandah for shelter when needed. I think you'll find you don't need constant access to the back of the vehicle. When you need to get at fridge/food etc at meal times, just park near and for the rest of the time the vehicle is out of the way.
I'd recommend the centre pole tents. Southern Cross are OK - I have one and there are other good makes around. Steer clear of one brand - can't think of the name but it's in a grass green colour and is less than half the price of the most common centre poles and I think the quality is just not there - look very flimsy. Expect to pay $600+ for a good quality canvas centre pole tent.

Thanks Fred. You make sense. I'm off to Kalbarri, Coral Bay & Exmouth in afew hours so will keep an eye on what everyone has in my travels. (I was a sook and hired a camper trailer for this the navigators first extended trip), but reckon a tent is a more independent way to go for future excursions. I just hope she (and maybe me) don't get too used to the luxury of a camper trailer.

Good on you Macca and I hope you have a good trip. I have a van and a tent and in many ways the tent is more convenient than the van. A good tent will stand up to all weathers and is quick and easy to put up and pack. The centre poles have it all over the domes etc which have numerous poles ropes and pegs and I think they are quicker and easier then camper trailers too.
