replied: saw one in the Simpson a couple of years ago broke clean in half. 2 nd time it had happened to this vehicle. Holden would not cover it , Insurance would not cover it cost $3600.00 to recover it from the desert . Seems a common problem so much so that Holden have modified later models and you may get a retro fit to strengthen it.

Andrew
replied: Hey guys, how are these bent chassis occuring, fatigue?.. or extensive towing?.. or abuse?
The only one I have heard of was towing a big boat over rough roads..
The undulations keep the rear hitting the bump stops and eventually bent the chassis above the diff housing..

Andrew i don't know why it has happened but it must be a design fault because they have a genuine part to fix the problem. While i was in
Darwin
there was one having the same problem fixed and was covered under warranty.

replied: Big Fella. Have a rodeo myself and am concerned by your post. Tell me more. What model do you have?. Is this problem isolated to a
particular model?. Where do I start looking for the problem. What's to G. O. As you may have gathered, I'm starting to panic. Your early reply
would be appreciated. Regards T

Trevor i have a 1999 LX dual cab turbo diesel. I don't know if it is a problem with a particular model. The first i started to notice there was a problem on mine was when the gap between the canopy and the cab started to increase other than that there was no other signs.
I have had no luck with Holden so i am now taking my complaint to consumer affairs. The only thing i can to suggest is you look at having the chassis strengthend because if this happens Holden will say that you have overloaded your truck.

replied: G'day Big fella,
by now I expect you should have a good idea just where the crack or bend is happening. as I have just recently purchased a '98 Rodeo 2.6 LX 4wd with 160,000 on the clock, I wondering if I should be out there on my back looking for tell tale signs.
After reading your
forum
messages I logged onto another site I got from google (cant remember which one it was) which was a Subaru club drive through the centre, accompanied by a Rodeo dual cab with a load on the back. There is a photo of the Rodeo with its back broken, but you cant see if the chassis broke directly behind the cabin, or if it happened above the bump stops. What ever , it does not do anything to add to my confidence , or loss of it, in the vehicle !!
cheers and good luck with it.
