Rotronics battery isolator

I am about to install a Rotoronics battery isolator MH10 in my vehicle. The fitting instructions say that one should fit the unit as close as possible to the Main Battery. My problem is that my main battery is under the passenger seat (Nissan G60) and there is not that much space available in that area. I could fit it under the floor pan but that does not seem right as the unit may get full of dust and mud(and oil !!). I do have space under the dashboard but will have to run a least 2 metres of wire to get to the battery. I would appreciate it if anyone can offer suggestions and the pros and cons of having the isolator close or not so close to the main battery. Cheers, Willie

My MH 10 is fitted to the driver's side firewall of our Hilux diesel with the main battery at the drivers side front of the engine bay. I guess that the distance between the firewall and the seat would be similar if you fit the unit on the passenger side firewall. Hope this helps.

I'd suggest using larger than normal cable if you can't have it as close as recommended, but as Andrew said, ring Rotronics and they will give you the best advice.

Willem,,we had simillar problem as to space,,,fitted our rotronics in rear of vehicle,close to 2nd battery ,,,used long rotronics supplied wire kit,,voltage drop is minescule,,,, Axel,

Thank you all for your replies and comments which have been taken on board. On reading the instructions on how to fit the isolator I discovered that the company from whom I bought the unit had not included the charge cables. So I will have to wait till next week to get them sent up. Living out in the sticks has its disadvantages. But I am not in a hurry. Cheers, Willie
