Hi all,
I am looking for RING type (rated) recovery points for the front of my 100 Series Petrol IFS Landcruiser.
Does any one know where to buy these?
Cheers
Dave

I think that you are asking about "eye bolts". Sometimes found on the front of trucks.
Engenerring supliers should have them or try a truck supply shop.
Not sure what is the max ratting is on them, but you would need at least 3.25t

Most better bolt/nut shops have a supply of eye-bolts. A point to note is that if rated, it is usually for lifting/supporting personnel. If my memory serves me well this involves a Factor of Safety of 12, whereas towing horizontally has a F of S of 4.
Hence you may find a 12mm eye-bolt is stamped (rated) for about 0.4T SWL whereas the same item is good for 1.2T for towing.
As I said, all based on memory ... and I don't wish to be embroiled in the old "snatch load" debate.
If you put a large thick washer inside the bullbar they will serve very well in controlled recovery situations, however I would not recommend them for snatch type jobs.
I have a pair on the back of the fender which are fine for the small jobs. When called upon to save toys and trools I use the hitch .... ;-D
Cheers

replied: Using a ring or eye-bolt means use of a shackle. I have no problem with using a shackle, I have to with the RA Rodeo as that is all they have (eye's).
If you can engineer in the correct device that does eliminate the use of a shackle, wouldn't that be the better way too go?

Dude on the melbourne list is selling them.
They are typically $25 ea in lots of 100, but if there is enough demand I may be able to get them cheaper. I had to buy 5, so have 2 left over if anybody is interested.

replied: You may wish to consider these, LBG Omni-Directional Threaded Ring Bolt. They rotate through 360 degrees self-aligning in the direction of the load/pull.
I put two on the rear of the troopy.
