4wd on Ghan train?
Submitted: Monday, Nov 06, 2000 at 00:00
Craig
Has anyone put their 4x4 on the Ghan? I have a Defender with roof rack etc. I plan to rail to Alice then drive back via the Simpson (been there before) next year. Time restraints are the reason for this.

replied: Craig,
Ihave put my vehicle on the ghan from Alice to Adelaide & return. Single deck carry. Only problem may be vandals throwing rocks at the train through Adalaide. We suffered some damage this way. Other then that, a fantastic journey by train. Sit back & enjoy the ride

replied: Craig I travelled on the Ghan with a Nissan GQ with roof rack, no problems at all. They have a flat trailer to put larger vehicles on. Take a pack of cards with you, its a long night. Unless of course you are trvelling 1st class, You will have fun though. Edwin
