Anybody know of any good 4wd tracks towards the southern end of putty rd, up around the colo area of no more than a medium rating, or around the the
st albans
area of nsw, as half the weekend is spent tacking the kids from one sport to another. Would like to find a place to get out in the arvo, have a bash and come home before night. Cheers.

I'm not sure if these are too far for your half day but here's a couple of suggestions.
Just north of St. Albans, there are some tracks in
Yengo National Park
. There are
trek notes
for this area right here on Exploroz. Have a look -
http://www.exploroz.com.au/TrekNotes/Syd/Yengo_National_Park.asp
The Watagan State Forest is also a good area. Again
trek notes
are shown on Exploroz. http://www.exploroz.com.au/TrekNotes/NSWCoast/Watagan_Mountains.asp
Both are also detailed in Boiling Billy Publications' "
4WD Treks
Close to Sydney". Well worth getting your hands on for about $20 at the Exploroz
shop
.
