Slide on campers.

Submitted: Monday, Feb 03, 2003 at 18:49

Briz

I have an old Millard slide on camper with which i am very happy.
I wonder if any one has had experience with these off road?
I put in on my Hilux diesel 4x4 tray back.
The roughest tracks I have had it on are the forestry tracks from Laurel Hill across to Talbingo and from Tumut across through the Brindabellas to Canberra.
Last May my wife and I did a trip through Vic. Beechworth, Bright, etc and out to The Grampians.
We averaged just over 12 l per 100km for the trip of over 4000km.
I am interested in hearing any travel stories from people with slide ons.

The URL doesnt work, and I think you need to be in the campertrailer list to view them anyway :(

Take care.

Nice pics Ray! If you want others to view the picks you could always set up your own Yahoo album and set it to public viewing.

Not sure of the difference between a response and a follow up.
Ray,
I haven't heard of Wombat Campers.
I don't think you can attach pics here but i'd love to see some.
Newer pop tops should be much better off road due to lower height and less weight up high.

Ray,
That looks a great unit.
Did you build it?
I recently converted the bed in our camper to a queen size.
Before it wasn't even a double.
Had to lose the wardrobe but who takes hang up type clothes camping?
