Headlight upgrade
Submitted: Tuesday, Sep 11, 2001 at 00:00
John R.
I wish to upgrade the sealed beam headlights on my 60 series LandCruiser (dual rectangular lights) to quartz units. Enquiries at a couple of accessory shops have met with blank looks. I have used upgrades for round lights in the past (Hella I think). Does anyone know whether conversion kits are still made/available for the rectangular lights?

replied: Yep, you have a few options, IPF & Narva make the actual lights & you can use an ARB or IPF upgrade wiring loom to handle the current of the high power globes. A guy I work with did this recently. He had it done through Motorcare 4WD in
Brisbane
www.motorcare.com.au or try ARB for the IPF stuff.

replied: You want Hella part number 5610 - details are on the hella website at http://www.hella.com.au/catalogue/a_z_pdf/q_pdf/headlamp_con.pdf I bought the proper crimp tool from tandy for $16 to fit the H4 sockets to heavy duty cable wired back to Hella relays - much cheaper than buying a ready made heavy duty harness.

replied: If the 5610 is the wrong size then try the ones on this page instead - http://www.hella.com.au/catalogue/a_z_pdf/q_pdf/headlamp_ins.pdf
