Dual Batteries in a 1999 Pajero NL
Submitted: Monday, Oct 22, 2001 at 00:00
Ron Holland
My mate wants to fit a dual battery system to his Pajero but is unsure where or if it can be done
Does anyone have experience with this model/make and if so how/where did you get it done
and at wha cost. There looks to be room but there could be a fair re-arranement of the plumbing!
He would appreciate any thoughts/suggestions - mine was to trade it for a Jack SE T/D and get it standard.

replied: Ron, firstly the battery system in the Jackaroo is not a dual battery system, but twin batteries run in parralel, big difference. It would be a good idea to start with one of the 4WD stores as they will tell you how the job can be done. I had a pirahna setup installed in my Jackaroo by TJM in Adelaide and yes, there was some alteration in plumbing, that is why I didn't attempt the job myself. Most of the specialist off road stores will be able to help. Happy trails, Mike

replied: Ron,
I had a dual battery setup fitted to my NJ Pajero by the local TJM people. They did a neat and strong looking job, including running two Hella type power outlets down to the back of the wagon (to accompany not replace the existing ciggy lighter type) using cutouts etc.
Some relocation of parts was required to place the deep cycle battery up against the firewall.
Cost was $798 all up - not cheap, but still value for money.
Good luck.

replied: Yes tnere is a battery tray available for that model and it does fit up against the fire wall !!, I have set them up with two Deep Cycle Delkor DC 24 Batteries, one in the main battery possition and the other in the aux ! they are slightly shorter than normal which you need in the Padj. There is a small amount of moving things but its not to bad ! I work and fit systems for Opposite Lock in Vic let me know if i can be of any help ??

Jeremy,
As a commercial fitter have you had any experience with the Pathfinder TI 2000 model. I'm told that due to the lack of space under the bonett because of the ABS and air systems that there is no room to install a duel system. Any advice would be appreciated.
