Article Overview - Buying a Motorhome
Motorhomes combine living accommodations and travel in the one package and the options are endless. The amount to learn can be quite overwhelming to the newbie. View Full Article...

went for a browse through a motor home dealership, and was amazed at the price of some of these things, even more surprised at the asking price of second hand ones!!. Eg. a 1988 Mazda E 2200, 2.3 diesel, with a box on the back $ 26,000.

The truck was worth $3,000, the rest of it about the same!.

Prices where absolutley ridiculous when you considered the age and kms of some of these trucks. The old supply and demand thing i suppose, not for this black duck!.

Cheers Axle.

Axle, just my thoughts to this the prices would be in proportion to, like having the worse house in the best street type thing, but you go looking at 4bs you get the same thing so i really dont' see what the dilema is.

What people ask and what they get are often quite different. I mean, why would anyone pay that sort of money for a 19yo vehicle? Actually it amazes me that anyone uses a mobile home for travelling. Painfully slow, cumbersome and they have to go with you on all sight seeing trips and even if you have to go into town for a litre of milk. I use a comfortable, fully equipped caravan. I can travel at the speed limit and when I stop in an area I have a solo vehicle to do my sight seeing.

a caravan may not be the same as a mobile home ..
and in WA you can go 110 with a mobilehome (not towing) and only 100 with a caravan .. and from my experience most caravans don't go 100 anyway .. but that's another story ..
with the right mobile home you have all the convenience .. the problem only is that most Australian caravan parks are not eqiupped to take a decent sice motorhome and that the country is generally too monotonous for my taste to spend a great deal on the bitumen, so even a caravan becomes kinda inconvenient ... but each to his/her own ...
here an example of a decent mobile home ..
I don't see a caravan matching that ...

by the way ... I am not an advocate of mobile homes or caravans or any other travel accomodation ... I am just very individual about my own solution, which includes a boat, and a mobile home always has the advantage that you can tow a decent boat which is not the case with a caravan ..

have fun ...
