I AM GOING TO FRASER ISLAND IN OCTOBER AND WILL BE TAKING MY NEW SLR WHAT ARE SOME GREAT AREAS FOR PHOTOGRAPHS?

Foot prints in the sand as the water goes out. You will love the place as you are going when there are no school holidays
You could take a photo from the Barge of all of us poor sods back on the mainland working for a living,but then maybe not.

My only advice would be to take yourtime (at least 10-20 minutes) to set up your photo then a great shot can be found almost anywhere.

not only is the wildlife more active, but the light is much softer and the shadows longer.
