I think an important consideration is to carry at least 2 different types of lighting so that if one fails there's always the other. For example I take a gas lantern that screws onto the big gas bottle; 2 fluros powered by my 120AH AGM battery, 2 headlights a hand held torch and a wind up!

1 small torch in toiletry bag.

so gave them up for 12v fluoros. Also like those round tri led lights from bunnings ($10) for trips to the facilities at night. Long lasting and compact. Do have the wind up also but rarely desperate enough to bother with it!
