replied: Hi Mick, alll models got new interiors (colour),the ST colour is very light, not really suitable for a 4x4. and new cup holders in the front, they sit inside the current and are held down with velcro, they should have asked my 8yo son if he could think of a better solution. As for the rest of the car,i suppose if it aint broke....... but then again , Renault, who owns Nissan dont want to spend any money on it, its too far into its life span.. regards Michael

Hi Mick, they came out about 3 months ago and a few weeks after that the 4,2 came out with an intercooler, 4.8 petrol and 3ol diesel i think are unchanged. The 4,2 gets cruise control standard. I have a 4,2 diesel GU, turning 4yo next week, i'm getting another 4,2 around mid month, ordering this week and take advantage of the free bullbar and towbar and
driving lights
, No a bad deal , makes it easier when you start adding all the on road costs. I dont think i will get the safety pak ( abs and second air bag). My GU has 270,000ks on the clock and the only problem was the front wheel hub covers cracked through the six bolt holes, had to replace them but expensive, near $500 ea, other than that its been a wonderful machine. Its been used on fairly easy offroad through its life but i'm sure it's got plenty of life left in it yet. Regards Michael

Sean,
I have only put 2 tanks through it so far as the vehicle has only done 2000km, but to date it is returning 13.2l/100k. I have fitted to the vehicle 285/75 Cooper STT, OME Suspenion, ARB Bullbar with 9000lb Electric Winch, Front and Rear Diff Locks, ARB 2nd Battery and IPF Spotlights which will all impact to some degree on the fuel economy.
I have had the vehicle off road once and have noticed from my last one better low rev torque but no difference in hiway running. The fitting of the Rear Diff lock has made the tail less twichy in wet weather on the bitumen. Overall an excellent unit!
Oh Yeah, nissan has also put cruise control as standard on the 4.2 TDI only!

Your making my mouth water. Your economy is excellent, should only get better, and is better than my 3 litre with similar set up. I am considering similar rig but without lockers.

kevin , how does diff lock fitted to rear make tail less twitchy in wet ? I would have thought diff lock only for extreme traction requirement offroad . I may be missing something. DRC.

replied: Micheal,
The Patrol has as standard equipment a very good LSD for the rear, but due to it being good also means that it is relatively tight and very easy for one (or both) of the rear wheels to lock up slightly when cornering (in the wet) and was prone to let the tail slide a little bit if give acceleration at the wrong time. Putting the locker in means that under normal
road conditions
the diff is nothing more than a straight forward diff. Driving the vehicle now in wet weather and going around a "round about" the vehicle feels a lot less tail happy. I also run mud
tyres
all the time which are not the greatest of
tyres
on wet bitumen and they just added to the problem.

replied: Kevin - I've also got a 4.2 TDi
Just a quick question - the 285/75/16
tyres
you have fitted, do they scrub? I'm just about to put OME springs into it and was thinking of going up a couple of sizes in
tyres
.
Cheers,
Daniel
