Toyota Landcruiser wiper arm bushes

Hi,
One of the nylon bushes in the arm that links to the wiper motor in my cruiser fell apart. Apparently the failure of this simple little bush means I have to buy a whole new assembly from Toyota for $280 approx. Does anyone have any ideas on how to renew or repair such a bush?

just a thougth.Could you fabricate one from a nylon cutting board? Can't be any harder than drilling and filing some nylon?

Good thought! I thought of it too, but it's shaped in such a way that the ball type link can press into it, and be captured by it. I'd have to work around that somehow.

No, this is a 1980 model, but at the moment a perfect car despite the wiper problem! I thought any nylon parts of this vintage might be in similar condition to what I have. But, if I can't fix it in another way, that will be my next step.

There may be a plastic fabricator in Perth that could make you one. Even a goldsmith could make one for less than the bandits in the parts division of Toyota. I'd even try making one out of hot glue cast around the ball. It may not last forever, but that stuff is pretty tough when cool.

I tried the glue gun suggestion, with some doubts, as I've never had any success with it before, but, it seems to have worked in the short term anyway. I just used the old bush, and glued it back in place with the glue gun, and a bit extra for luck
