Overlander 700 bettery
Submitted: Thursday, Jul 03, 2003 at 19:14
Phil R
I've got an Overlander 700 battery that I've been using for 6 years as a cranker
in a diesel troopy and had no problems with it at all. Now on cold mornings it is
getting a bit sluggish so I'm replacing it with another one of the same type
because I reckon their a good thing, I'm also sticking a 10,000lb warn on the front
that will get occasional use short use, I think they will work well together but am just after some feed back.

Would be even better if you had two of them, switched in parallel when winching.

replied: Hi Phil, I'm also running the same battery in my troopy & it's been in for 3 years service so far without any cranking problems (6.5 Chevy diesel); so if I get the life out of it as you have I will certainly get my monies worth. Would be interested to so what a capacity test on your old battery gives. As for winching I run an X9 superwinch & there doesn't seem to be any problems in battery drain with mine. I keep the donk ticking over when winching in any case.

I haven't had it tested but I might do it as it might be ok to run
fridge
or
parallel with new one for winch as Steve suggested. I'll look into that ...

Just put in an exide extreme as the second battery, going to run

off that, and the winch off the main.

I had one put in my Hilux last year when the old one started to show signs of packing it in, and when I installed the dual battery system, I also put an Overlander 700 in for the second battery (my needs didn't require me to purchase a deep cycle). Fantastic battery. Not one problem so far and they have handled the corrugations i've put them through (have heard stories of other batteries falling appart due to excesive vibration).
cheers,
Sam.
