Long range fuel tanks
Submitted: Friday, Dec 07, 2001 at 00:00
John R.
I am planning to install a long range fuel tank in my 60 series. There seem to be several brands and sizes available, eg LRA do a 150 litre, Opposite Lock a 190 litre. Does anyone have any experience of either of these or others on the market? How robust are they? Any problems to watch out for?
Thanks, John R.

replied: John, regardless of which tank you choose be sure to check it is ADR compliant. This is just about the best recommendation you can get as to its strength and safety features.

replied: Long Ranger seem to be the best known and there highly recommended. If yo decided to go Long Ranger then buy through ARB they have great nation wide service.

replied: I have an Opposite Lock Outback tank in my Patrol & mate has had one in his since 1997.
Both tanks have taken knocks offroading (we both go fairly hardcore) denting the tanks as they do sit lower than factory tanks, but they have stood up to the hits. Their prices are usually very good if negotiated well (probably save about $100 off list)
Also Long Range Automotive is different to Long Ranger as sold by ARB - 2 different companies.
