Give them a good scrub in hot water

Then heat them right up to burn off any bleep left over then coat in Vegetable oil and store.

cooking oil in a spray can works a treat. Easy to apply too.

It's a good question and basically what Chris says is good advice. Take it a step further and use a wire brush then wash or dust off. Rub plenty of olive oil (it doesn't have to be the expensive EVOO stuff) or Sunflower seed oil into the surface then heat it up to high temp, this seasons the surface (it'll smoke like bug...ry) Re oil when it has cooled down. Later on after cooking, scrub with wire brush and lightly oil surface if storing for long period. Only ever wash lightly to remove soft food scaps. Don't scrape the surface, the carbon buildup is good.
Use good quality oils always.

Exactly as Chris says, but make sure you do it before the first time you use them or your tucker will taste like bleep because of the varnish or whatever they put on them at the foundry or where ever.

And when you heat them don't hold back ... make sure they're SMOKIN !!!!!Rosco
