Warranty Problems 2.8 GUpatrol

My Nissan 2.8 GU is about to come out of warranty. I would like suggestions as to any problems to look for before the due date.
Secondly, I would like to hear from anyone who has fitted an upgraded engine control chip.Has it supplied the power at low revs? Economy?
