Deep cycle batteries

OK all you experts out there, I'm in need of a bigger and better deep cycle battery. Current fridge cranker is a 50 amp hour weakling. Lasts about 18 hours if I'm lucky. Brands that you guys have found that DON'T self destruct on the Gibb River Road, thanks in advance Cracka

If you're in WA try WA Solar Supplies in Osborne Park. I've got a 115 amp hour deep cucle thats the same size as an N70Zand it lasted the GRR fine. Cheers, Alex.

go to a good battery place and get yourself a sonechien battery, they are from germany and are the best battery available in the world !......have seen them in H/D use and last and still going 14 years !
you will pay a fair bit !.....but you get what you pay for !..........otherwise optima or odesey !

My Personal choice is Odyssey, these are a great deep cycle battery and are manufactured so the will take the rough stuff. They even come with a metal casing that the battery sits in.

Bart, You had me going there for a while. I thought thats the battery for me. I tracked down the dealer on the Gold Coast and he quoted me $470 for a battery for my 60 Series. He then told me I would have to spend another $1,000 to $1,200 modifying my alternator and regulator to maintain the warranty. The guy said quiet confidently that he could fix me up for under $2,000 probably. I've done Cape York, Gibb River Road, Gunbarrel Highway, Simpson Dessert etc with "Overlanders" at $130 ea with no problems. I can buy 15 of them for $2,000. Anyway, thanks for the information. Mal.

Mal i don't who gave you this info but he's led you so far down the garden path your out the front gate. I suggest you you get some real facts from battery world at Ryde in Sydney who import Lifelines, and by the way when it really comes to the fair dinkum department you get what you pay for. Maybe ya mate on the goldcoast should ring em to.

Ken, thanks for the reply and info. I agree that you get what you pay for except with some new 4WD's. I'm sure they are great batteries and I may end up with one.
