Journey to Craigs Hut
Submitted: Wednesday, Apr 09, 2008 at 22:09
This is a first for me. Just back from visiting Craigs Hut. It has not long been rebuilt again. The circuit road is fine for any vehicle. Met some people who had stayed the night before at
Bluff Hut
where it snowed. This was two weeks ago to-day. We stayed in a cabin in
Mansfield
because of the inclement weather but camped on the way home on the Murray River near Corowa. You can obtain a very informative book for about $5 at the Wangaratta Tourist Bureau that shows many
places
to camp on the Murray. May I suggest another delightful camp site between Wagga and
Gundagai
for anyone travelling in that area. It is loacated on the Murrumbidgee River a couple of kilometres east of Wantabadgery and is called Sandy Beach. There is plenty of room here and it has sheltered tables, toilets, taps and constructed fire
places
for your campfire.

Did you do the full circuit?...silverback
Reply: Most of the way David, We took a short cut off the cicuit road to Mt. Buller. This is just a short rocky section of road for about 3km until it meets a wide gravel road and then a couple of km to a wide bitumen road into Mt. Buller. The short rocky section doesn`t require 4wd, I didn`t think just a good bit of clearance....Terry
