 Call of the Dolphins.!!!

Submitted: Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 21:13
Well, we left Geraldton and did a good days driving to finally get to Monkey Mia, which Jodie had wanted to always visit for some years now. I think we got there at around 4.30pm, just before darkish, and quickly got our site sorted. Lucky we rang before hand, however the campsites were not suited to CT's because the sutes were carry in your tent only. all the powered sites for vans were taken so luckily, they had an emergency site, right near reception and as it turned out, it was great, as we were closer to everything there.
We quickly set up for just a one nighter, and took off down to the waters edge for some sunset action photos. Got some terrific pics, then strolled over to catch a look at the restaurant menu. after a quick look, it was agreed that the 'Land & Sea' dinner was going to be all ours, with someone else cooking.
the meal and service was fantastic, while sitting outside with a nice cool breeze blowing, sipping a glass of red and watching the final show of the WA sunset turn on a great show for us both.
Next morning it was up at 5.30 am, to get ourselves ready for the Dolphin feeding at 8 am , but we wanted to get a few things packed before that. Finally strolled down to the waters edge agian, and people were just coming out of the woodwork to come and look at these fabulous creatures. We spent aboutan hour watching the dolphins, frolicking along in fronmt of us, thn it was back to camp to hook up and get along the road to another top campsite. We checked a few out on the way, and just past Denham, we finally settled on the Whalebone area.
We were here at a great time just as some others were leaving, and ended up getting ourselves pole position, right on the point (check photos!!) Immediately after getting out of the car, a small whaler shark came cruising right past our doorstep just to say hi and introduce himself. Jodie put the snorkelling gear on and hit the water, to say hi back, but he took off, must be a fussy eater and not like us eastern staters!! Anyway those fish are really stirred up tonight so I'd better get a bait out to 'em. By for now unc & Jodie.
