Description
This short trip is on the main tourist route and although it can be negotiated by any manner of vehicle type (provided it is not too high, nor too wide) it's a trip worth making a point of as it gives visitors the chance to experience something a little unusual in such an easy, accessible location. The Spray Tunnel is a short tunnel along a historial railway line used for the transportation of ore from the nearby Spray Mine. You'll find the route to the tunnel is easy to find as it is signposted out of Zeehan. Starting in the main street of Zeehan simply follow the C249 towards Granville Harbour for a few kilometres taking the turn-off towards the golf course. Follow signs along the one-way loop track that follows part of an old railway line, including what is now called the Spray Tunnel which the carriages used to travel through as they transported ore from the Spray Mine to the smelters south of Zeehan. This is only a 30 minute return trip but is well worth it if in the area.

Approximately 100m long, this is the position of the south end (exit) of the tunnel. For safety reasons the spray tunnel is one-way only. A plaque explaining the history of the Spray Mine is found at this end of the tunnel so pull over to allow others clear passage through the tunnel if you are stopping to take a look.

Preparation
The Spray Tunnel in Zeehan is very narrow and low and cannot be accessed by vehicles exceeding 2.20 metre wide, or over 3.0 metres high. Be sure to remove any extended rear vision mirrors and watch that children do not hang arms, or heads outside the windows of the vehicle as you pass through. Many rental vehicles such as high-top campers or
motorhomes
will not fit through so be sure to check your vehicle's dimensions first.
